MISSION STATEMENT:

TO PROTECT THE LIVELIHOODS OF HARD WORKING TAXPAYERS FROM COMPANIES AND WORKERS WHO UNDERMINE OUR ECONOMY WHILE BLEEDING OUR TAX DOLLARS DRY.

THE BLEEDING:

The abuse or “BLEEDING” begins with employers misclassifying their workers.  They claim that the worker is an “independent contractor”, which allows the employer to avoid paying into the following tax funds:

bullet Social Security
bullet Liability Insurance
bullet Workers’ Compensation
bullet Overtime
bullet Unemployment Insurance

Now compound that with these employees/independent contractors not paying into their fair share of taxes:

bullet Federal Income Tax
bullet State Income Tax
bullet Social Security Tax
bullet Medicare Tax

The employees are being exploited.  They are not being paid overtime and have no control over their work hours.  They have no protection in case of injury in high risk areas.  Since they are being paid in cash, they are subject to shortages.

Estimates of misclassification and “self-employment” suggest that 2.3 million construction workers are “self-employed”.
