Thank you to all who participated in our Website survey in January! We appreciate your feedback because it will help us to better serve you. We heard what you had to say and will be implementing a few changes in March to help address your needs. To further assist you we would also like to address a few frequently asked questions.
I’m looking for employment opportunities. How does the Job Starts page work?
On a weekly basis, the District Council utilizes several nationwide programs designed to target trade related projects in Missouri, Kansas and Illinois. These projects can be in the early design stage of construction, the bidding process or the award phase of the project. Once the project has been awarded to a contractor, we load the contractor contact information into the Job Start menu of the Website. You can search for jobs on our Website by project type (i.e. bridges, hospitals), by contractor name (which contractor was awarded a project) or within a certain distance to your zip code. We report jobs by the start date of the project. To view details on a job, simply click on the job name hyperlink.
I can’t find information about my area, why is that? Who can I contact?
Our District Council covers a wide area of the Midwest and we are working diligently to make sure we provide information to and about every part of our region. If you look at the first page of your Winter 2013 The Cutting Edge magazine you will see we have added Correspondents to cover different parts of our two-and-a-half state area. At this time the Correspondents are Frank Anderson (Kansas City Millwrights), Roy Daniel (Joplin), Brian Doerr (Shops & Mills), Paul Garrett (Kansas), Dominic Grasso (Electrical Division), Jon Gould (Southern Illinois), Kelly Hall (Springfield), Rocky Kloth (Kansas City Floor Layers), Barry Stelzer (CDC Safety Director), Mike Swyers (St. Louis/Southern Illinois Millwrights), Ron Tierney (CJAP) and Dave Wilson (Kansas City).
If you have information on your area or a story idea, please feel free to forward to the applicable Correspondent or to PR Director Kristy Barton.
I have a question but don’t know where to start.
You can always call the District Council office or any of our regional offices if you have questions. Hours vary from location to location and can be viewed under the “About Us” tab or click HERE.
If calling doesn’t work with your schedule, we also have an E-mail in place for your convenience, union@carpdc.org. Leave a few details about your question and a phone number with your area code, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Why can’t I pay my dues online?
At this point in time we do not offer an online payment option but the process has been researched. Making online payments involves paying a fee to process the payments. This fee is based on how much your payment is; meaning the more you pay, the more your fee would be. The District Council cannot cover these fees so they would end up falling back on you, our Members. We feel that the cost outweighs the benefit.
Why is my log in password so complicated?
We require letters, numbers and symbols for your Log In password for your protection. Requiring these three things makes your password harder to hack and therefore protects your identity and personal information including medical and dependent information.
Where does our money go?
Every month we post our Council Meeting minutes and our Financial Statements on our Website. Log In to your account and click the” About Us” tab to view them.
Thank you again for your feedback!
