         FORM WORK

The Carpenters and Laborers have a signed agreement dated January 12, 1973.  The agreement is three pages long and it addresses many issues in detail.  Let me clearly state details on several of those items:

Under no circumstance does the laborer set a form including sono tubes for light standards.

All patent type forms, or forms constructed with lumber and plywood will be released and stripped by the carpenter.  This includes all braces, whalers, stiff backs, and hardware.  The only time the laborer removes a form from a concrete pour is when it is wrecked.  For example, beam pockets or bulkheads that are destroyed as they are removed.

When forms are removed and reduced to common dimensional lumber, the form is still released by the carpenter and then disassembled by the laborer. This includes the last pour.

Gang forms will be removed from the wall by the carpenter and maneuvered to the designated lay down area.  The laborer cleans and oils the form.  If the form is to be disassembled, the carpenter removes all whalers, stiff backs, hardware, panel pins, etc.  The laborer then gathers the hardware, cleans and oils the forms, and stockpiles materials for future use or to be loaded out.

Let me also say the Carpenters and Cement Masons have an agreement regarding form work that dates back to December 1965.  This agreement is fairly straightforward and basically states, “When plain material 12 inches or less is used to form curbs and gutters, it will be set by the cement masons.”  There are other examples in the agreement, but this is basically it.  The carpenter sets perimeter forms for all buildings, even if it is 12 inches or less.
