Our Annuity Plan

The St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Annuity Plan is a defined contribution plan that was established in May 2019 with the goal of helping our members prepare for a secure retirement.

The annuity plan summary plan description (SPD)  outlines the details of our new annuity benefit. The SPD provides a summary of important plan provisions as well as participant rights within the plan; however, the annuity fund plan document is the actual governing document. If there are any discrepancies between the SPD and the plan document, the plan document will prevail.

All members accruing annuity benefits under our plan need to complete an annuity beneficiary designation form to name a beneficiary in the event of death. Proper beneficiary designations will avoid delays in processing any death benefits that are payable, so it is recommended to complete and return the form to the benefits office as soon as possible.

There are several different types of annuity benefit distributions: Standard, Hardship and Death.

Reciprocity

The St. Louis – Kansas City Carpenters Regional Annuity Plan (STL-KC Plan) is a new annuity plan established May 1, 2019. Effective May 2020, STL-KC members who travel to work in other carpenters jurisdictions are eligible to transfer annuity benefits into the STL-KC Plan effective for hours worked on or after May 1, 2019. Members whose home local is outside this jurisdiction but traveled into this area to work are able to transfer their benefits from the STL-KC Plan back to their home annuity plan. For more information on reciprocal transfer of benefits between funds, visit our Transfer Benefits page on this website.

You may find our reciprocity transfer form here.
