St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council Endorses Better Together Proposal.

St. Louis, Mo.— Al Bond, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council today issued the following statement endorsing the proposal put forth by Better Together to consolidate the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County:

“For too long, the St. Louis region has been fractured. We’ve competed against ourselves for development projects and stood in the way of our own progress as a region. I believe the Better Together proposal will do exactly what it says—make us better together. Consolidating the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County will finally unify our economic development efforts into the collaborative, regional strategies that will again bring growth to St. Louis. Overnight, St. Louis would become the 9th largest city in the United States. Even better, it will save taxpayers money by eliminating duplicate services. A consolidated government will also streamline regulations, making St. Louis an attractive place to do business. Together, we’ll no longer be a “flyover city,” but instead a world-class destination.”
